Creativity Shines! The Winner of York Jewellers’ Mother’s Day Design Competition!
The anticipation was built, the colourful entries have been admired, and the judges made their decision!
York Jewellers was delighted to announce our heartwarming Mother's Day Colouring-In and Jewellery Design Competition winner.
But it wasn’t until we met the winner at our Warriewood store that we discovered how heartwarming this story is.
To recap, we invited young artists aged up to 15 years old to unleash their creativity, either by colouring our exclusive jewellery templates or designing a unique piece for their Mum, all for the chance to win a $2500 York Jewellers voucher for their deserving mother.
The response was incredible, filled with imagination, love, and much talent!
And the Winner Is…
After much deliberation and careful consideration by our expert team, we were thrilled to congratulate 9-year-old Albi as the grand prize winner!
Albi’s imaginative design truly captured the spirit of the competition, demonstrating extraordinary originality and a clear vision for a beautiful piece of jewellery for his Mum, Gemma.

A Special Visit and a Mother’s Joy
The excitement didn't end with the announcement. We had the immense pleasure of welcoming Albi and his very proud mother, Gemma, to our York Jewellers Warriewood store. Albi even brought along his winning drawing, and charmingly, another wonderful design he had created! It was fantastic to see his artistic spirit shining so brightly.
Gemma was overjoyed, and it was a truly special moment for our team to see her choose some beautiful pieces with her $2500 voucher, adding a little extra to select a stunning ring and a gorgeous pendant – a truly memorable Mother's Day gift, inspired by her son's creativity.

The Judges were Challenged and Inspired!
Our judging panel, comprising our expert jewellers and dedicated store staff, had an incredibly inspiring – and challenging – task.
As detailed by our team, the selection process was thorough and democratic. After Emma helped curate the top five entries, multiple rounds of voting took place. It was a close contest, resulting in a tie that required a regroup and a further silent vote to determine our worthy winner, Albi!
We were looking for originality, practicality in translating the design into wearable jewellery, and relevance to Mother's Day—a day that reflects love, appreciation, and beauty.
More Than Just a Competition
This competition was so much more than a giveaway for us at York Jewellers and our Managing Director, Douglas Ely. It was a "feel-good story" that showcased incredible community engagement and the boundless creativity of young minds.
It's a celebration of family, the special bond between mothers and their children, and the joy of giving something truly personal. We're even considering sharing this heartwarming story more widely to inspire others!
A Gallery of Talent!
The imagination and the heart poured into every entry we received blew us away. The talent on display was phenomenal, making the judges' decision incredibly tough.
Whilst Albi took home the grand prize, we wanted to share a gallery of the designs that brightened our days and showcased the amazing young artists in our community.
